Location: CBD – 252 Hindley St, Adelaide
Levant, located on the renewed-side of Hindley St near UniSA, serves up nifty Middle Eastern food in a light and bright space. Not really an expert in Middle Eastern food as yet, I didn’t know what to expect – but the amazing smells as soon as we walked in made me realise I was in for a wonderful surprise.
The order system is cool in that you can build your own salad or pita pocket or choose from the already-made combinations. I also like the options of white/wholemeal bread and cous cous/quinoa bases for salads. The food, like the space, is colourful and inviting. I went with the Falafel U salad (yes, I went with a salad for once) which was massive and the fried falafels with the quinoa and salad were surprisingly tasty, especially with the sauces I have never tried before. My friend’s pita pocket was jam-packed, I especially liked how there were fries inside along with the meat and salad. The food definitely fills you up and then some, which always gets a big tick from me. As sides, we got the Haloumi Sticks and Mini Hashbrowns, which were well-priced and delicious.
It’s a great place to visit for lunch as the flavour combinations are mind-boggling good. I’m craving the Falafel U salad already!
